Easy and Fun Graphical Communication Tool for Autistic Children on iPhone/iPodTouch Created by Real Mom
Spectrum Visions Releases Voice4U, the First-of-a-Kind Intuitive, Customizable and Affordable Application to Let Kids Express Themselves
San Jose, CA, November 24 2009
Spectrum Visions, a Silicon Valley startup to provide technology products and services for autism spectrum community, today announced that its first iPhone/iPodTouch application Voice4U became available on Apple’s iTunes Store.
People with autism have difficulty putting their thoughts into words, and instead often have to rely on various graphical communication tools for letting others know what they are thinking. Spectrum Vision’s new Voice4U app allows autistic children easily select and tap on the icon and/or text from the menu, and show others the full-screen fun graphic and play the voice recording. The application, priced $29.99 per download, includes more than 120 charming pictures ranging from everyday items to emotions, and the kids or parents can add their favorite things by taking pictures and recording the sound on the device.
“My own son has autism, and I have been looking for a communication tool that is easy to operate, light-weight and fun for him, but could not find the right one,” said Yumi Kubo, founder and chief executive officer of Spectrum Visions. “So I had to create one myself. iPhone or iPodTouch has beautiful screen for the graphics and touch operation, is light enough for kids to carry, and its battery lasts the whole day. And as all the parents know, kids in general LOVE an iPhone and/or iPodTouch anyway.”
Voice4U is currently available in English and Japanese. Default graphics of Voice4U is the most suited for the needs of school-aged children, but can be used for wider age group with easy customization.
