FAQ

What equipment I need to use Voice4u?

Voice4u is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, iPad mini, Android devices, Kindle Fire, and NOOK tablet.

You need:

  • iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Android phone, Android tablet, Kindle Fire, or NOOK Tablet
  • iTunes Store account (for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad)
  • Google account (for Android phone)

Optional:

  • iTunes (free download)
  • External microphone (for 3rd generation iPod Touch and Kindle Fire)

The third generation iPod Touch require an external microphone to record audio. The third generation iPod Touch comes with a microphone. All iPod Touch users must capture graphics from an external camera (digital camera) and upload them to your PC or Mac via iTunes. To use Voice4u on an iPhone, you must activate your device with AT&T and pay applicable activation fees & monthly usage fees.

Which iPhone and iPod Touch models do you recommend?

It all depends on your needs. The iPod Touch has a faster processor and is cheaper. The iPhone has built-in camera allowing you to take pictures from inside Voice4u and can also be used as a phone.

Where can I purchase an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad?

I do not know how to setup an iTunes Store account.

How do I get Voice4u onto my device?

You can download Voice4u onto your device from the App Store button on your device. The iPod Touch requires a WiFi connection to download applications from the App Store. Alternatively, you can visit the App Store through iTunes on your PC or Mac. Please also read our visual instructions.

Can Voice4u be used on multiple different devices?
Yes it can. On the App Store in iTunes, Voice4u will be tied to the iTunes account you make the purchase from. If you own multiple devices, for example, an iPhone and an iPod touch, you can sync both devices to this same account and use Voice4u on both the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Note that since you can only sync a device to one account at a time, Voice4u will be removed from the device if you subsequently sync the device to another iTunes account on another computer. To put it back, you will need to sync again to the original iTunes account you made the purchase from.

Can I change the gender of the voice?
No. The current version of Voice4u does not have that capability yet, but we may incorporate it in a future release.
What are the intended ages of Voice4u?
There is no limit, but if your children or individuals do not need picture exchange communication style anymore, they may not need Voice4u. If you let your children have a device, make sure they do not drop it! If your child is about to start K-12, Voice4u will be very useful to enhance their studying and communication at school.
Do you offer a demo of Voice4u?

Unfortunately not. Apple does not currently support time-limited trials for iPhone/iPod Touch applications, so we cannot provide a trial version. However, you can try it out at PHP (Parents Help Parents) iTech Center in San Jose, California.

How do I change the speed of the voice?
  1. Tap the “More” tab.
  2. Tap “Settings”.
  3. Adjust the slider for “Speed of Voice”.
